• Nate completely surprised Cora with his proposal during a trip to Chicago to visit her brother. He popped the question during a day trip with Cora’s brother and mom to the aquarium. They were taking photos and Nate pulled Cora in close and said that she was better than any girl of his dreams and dropped to his knee. Cora didn’t skip a beat and immediately said yes!

The couple had a beautiful ceremony at the University of Richmond Cannon Memorial Chapel and celebrated their reception with us here at The Renaissance. The couple knew they wanted to get married in a church and when someone suggested the Chapel at U of R, they immediately fell in the love with it. Then the couple searched for a location close to host their reception, and found The Renaissance knowing it was the perfect fit!

They did encounter one planning snafu that almost threw off their ceremony location! The couple booked with us ahead of time but had to wait until ten months before the wedding date to request the chapel. Once they submitted their paperwork, they found out all of the power was going to be turned off the day prior and they would need to pick a different date. Knowing there was no way to change the date, they pleaded with them and were able to secure their perfect ceremony location after all!

The décor for the reception was filled with touches of blush and silver made for a romantic and elegant feel. The addition of the bistro lights gave off a perfect warm glow and almost makes you feel like you are outdoors. We are so happy that Cora and Nate chose The Renaissance to host their reception, we enjoyed working with them so much!
